West Virginia University Football Hall of Traditions
Case Study
Today’s top college recruits often make significant sacrifices to develop their talents, driven by the belief that these efforts will lead to success in their college football careers and potentially pave the way for a future in the NFL.
Because the athletes are sacrificing so much, they are searching for a program that brings them benefits and has a team culture that feels like home. A lot of times they have to move away from family and into a foreign environment.
At West Virginia University, their program is built on the Appalachian standards of family and togetherness. This is undoubtedly what sets them apart from competing schools in recruiting. Appalachian culture is also known to value grit and hard work. Some may even argue that people from Appalachia are among the most hardworking people in the country.
The culture of winning and producing NFL talent is a significant priority for many programs, and it holds special importance for WVU. While most universities showcase their achievements with trophy cases and photos, the Puskar Center Hall of Traditions takes the showcase to another level.
The moment you step into the Milan Puskar Center, you can sense the rich history that surrounds you. Greeting you with a massive video wall, it features interactive touch screen panels displaying statistics and football history, a timeline of WVU football events where pressing a football icon activates the video wall showcasing special moments in the University’s past.
This experience and tradition are what athletes want to commit to and be a part of.
WVU football team highlights and hype videos can be displayed on video walls and interactive screens throughout the hall of traditions. Recruits can picture themselves and their future WVU highlights playing on the walls of the Puskar Center.
The Hall of Traditions is open to the public on gamedays. Fans can explore the traditions displayed on the technology and interact with it to learn more. The WVU football program is a family; teammates and fans included.
