The Challenge
West Virginia University needed to create a top-of-the-line innovation center to elevate their communications and journalism programs through immersive technology and laboratories, giving students the tools to bring their stories to life. 
The Process
Create a facility that embodies their journalism program and BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Movement through state-of-the-art technology, encouraging collaboration and innovation.  
Our Delivery
Through audiovisual design and installation we delivered: a video wall, interactive displays, IMC digital agency, maker and hacker co-labs, and a social media bridge of six displays that allow up to six different device connections were added.

Huddle Rooms
Bring Your Own Device Movement
– Students and professors can bring their personal computers and plug in to any device to share their screen. 
Digital Storytelling Hub

– Home of the Innovator-in-Residence program and where various journalism classes are held, providing experiments through new technology. 

Studio B

– Individual students or classes can use the space to record professional quality podcasts and multi-media programming.

The Forum

– The main area for using technology to engage students with guest speakers, hackathons, industry partner ideation sessions, club meetings, and other events. 

The Strategic Communications Hub

– Home of the IMC digital agency for capstone classes and the Community Branding Initiative for economic development. 

HackerSpace

– Includes a retractable separation screen, turning the area into a complete separate meeting space. It’s also home to the CodeLab program, which teaches students and community members how to develop apps and basic coding. 

MakerSpace

– Home to journalism classes, computer gaming classes, experiments with sensors, 3D printing, and drone technology.
